MARKETING TECHNIQUES TO DRIVE TRAFFIC
One of the most highly asked questions by new online marketers is how to get traffic to their website or blog. Funning thing is, there are a thousand ways to get traffic. Traffic is everywhere on the internet, and should not be any type of hurdle in your success as an internet marketer.
The simple answer? Have your website exposed to as many internet users in your niche as possible and once people can find your website, there will be traffic flowing daily. Sure, thank you Brian, but that really is or seems to not be an easy task. Well, let’s make it one OK? Yes, it requires a bit of work, but what doesn’t. No free rides, just free methods that will work! You will need to put into place some strategies & techniques to make that happen, so let’s get started.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Successful SEO is what most internet marketers want to achieve (or at least they should) from their website/blog as this is the best traffic available online. Targeted and direct traffic coming from Google or the other search engines and as much as they can send. There is nothing better than having some keywords in the top 5 spots in the SERPs. Most people will use the web search engines to look for products or to do their research for gathering information on what they are interested in. Being on the first page of Google’s search results can drive tons of traffic and ultimately sales. You need to get your website or blog ranking high for related keyword searches done by those people who have a want to find what you offer.
The best way to optimize your website is with the use of backlinks. Not spammy ones, but real links from good sites. You don’t want to ever buy a Fiverr gig and all of a sudden have 100+ links pointed to your site. That will only sandbox your website fast. There are lots of ways of building good backlinks and I will do a future post just about this very subject.
Build your site on WordPress. Google loves WordPress websites. Use an SEO Plugin to optimize your Meta Tags, Titles, Articles, and Data to make it Google-friendly. When I say Google, I actually mean ALL search engines.
Article Writing & Posting
Articles are one of the greatest tools for online marketing. You have no doubt heard the saying “Content is King” and yes it is very true. Article content helps with your SEO by getting back-links to your website/blog and it will bring exposure to your website or blog through the hyperlink(s) that are in your writings.

Just by starting to write short articles on your niche(s) topics and then placing these articles on other blogs, article directories, and forums, your bio information will be containing a link to your website/blog and reciprocally the directory or forum where your article is picked up will contribute a link from their website to yours. These back-links are traffic generators, noticed by the search engines, and count towards your SEO score. When their visitors who read your articles wish to learn more about the topic than the short article has info for, they will click on your hyperlinks and go straight through to your website.
Pay Per Click Advertising
Pay Per Click or PPC is advertising provided by the search engine providers (Google, Bing, and others) where you pay for traffic on selected keywords. It is a quick way to have your ad on the first page of the keyword search on the network you decide to use for generating immediate traffic. Of course, because you pay for each click make sure to set realistic daily budgets (like $5/day to start) or you could easily spend more than you were prepared too. Test and test the traffic and lose the campaigns that cost too much, keeping only the best return ones. Let it run a couple of days (like 5-7) to see results before eliminating certain keywords and/or ad variations.
Affiliate Marketing
If you are going to be a product creator, then an affiliate program is another way to drive traffic to your website/blog or product pages. Your affiliates will be your salespeople who make money when they sell your products. You will be using them to drive traffic to your website/products in exchange for them getting commissions on sales. If you don’t want to manage your affiliates yourself, you could use an affiliate network such as ClickBank or JVZoo to sell your products if they are digital in nature. The exposure in these networks and the number of affiliates looking for a good product to sell make this a great way to increase traffic and of course sales.
Remember that any internet business will die out without a steady traffic stream. There are millions of internet users out there every day, you just need to get them directed to your product or promotion.
I will be posting more in-depth information coming soon on these and many more traffic techniques.
