SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)
SEO is one of the most important aspects of a website. This is because it helps to determine how well a site ranks on the search engine results pages or SERP’S.
People type in keyword-specific phrases and you would ultimately want your website to come up for those searches by being listed on hopefully the first-page results.
Search engine optimization or SEO is the process of improving the visibility of a website or webpage in a search engine’s unpaid (ORGANIC) results—often referred to as “natural,” “organic,” or “earned” results. This is usually done by obtaining high-quality backlinks, which may come from an article, social media post, or popular blog.
There are many factors that affect SEO, but the most important ones are On-Page Optimization and Off-Page optimization.
On-Page SEO
There are several ways that you can optimize your website to accomplish this. You can use a plugin or code snippets to reduce the loading time, increase the speed of your website, and make it more secure. A fast-loading website both on mobile and desktop is a major factor in ranking.
Many plugins (all-in-one SEO) for example will take care of most of the on-page optimizations for you.
It is also important to have a responsive design so that your site will work on all devices. No longer can your website just look good on a desktop! Small devices like smartphones are getting more share of the traffic searches. Much, much more.
Off-Page SEO
Off-page optimization refers to all activities that influence how well a site ranks on search engine result pages without changing its website content. These include link building and social media marketing among others.
Building links to your website (the natural way) from posting in forums, social media pages, and Q & A sites like Quora.com will get back-links to your website that provide exactly what Google likes.
**Don’t ever use spam links from so-called SEO link builders on a site like Fiverr.com or your website rankings will suffer.
Always create quality content that is relevant to your target audience and post regularly. Google loves content that is relevant and will reward your site over time.
